I had the pleasure of meeting Scott in Nogales, Arizona, when he gave me a place to stay while attending the School of The Americas Watch event at the border several years ago.
Even before that, I knew him indirectly through posts of his forwarded to me by my dear friend Brady Torres. I was touched by the evidence of his deep commitment to social justice and his addressing the plight of those living south of the US, often due to the deleterious effects of US foreign policies.
With Scott’s passing, it falls to those of us who remain to carry on the work to which he dedicated his life. In doing so, we also honor his memory, and take to heart the example he set for us.
¡Presente, Scott!
